PTR Bell Boots on a horse's front feet in a stall
No hoof, no horse

Stronger, healthier feet

A hoof stays healthy on good blood flow, and keeping it flowing is something most owners work at all year. Overnight in the stall, these boots hold Gladiator's ceramic around the foot, aimed at the hoof. It turns your horse's own body heat into far infrared that the foot absorbs. Most of it lands right there in the foot, supporting healthy circulation into the hoof while they rest. Some carries on up the leg and through the body, so there's a calming effect too, though nothing like the plugs at the head. These are for the feet; for the head, there are the plugs.

Riders put them on

  • After hard ground and big weeksFeet take a pounding at shows and on firm footing. Boots on at night help them recover.
  • For strong, healthy hoof growthCirculation is what feeds new hoof, and Gladiator built these to support healthy growth.
  • Every night, as routineOn at evening stables, off when you tack up: a regular part of looking after the feet, alongside your farrier.

We've had great success increasing the circulation into the feet.Todd Minikus, 2× US Pan American Team Bronze Medalist

Sound feet are what keep a horse in work. These let you look after them every night, while your horse rests.

A case from State College, Pennsylvania

The horse they nearly put down

This horse was brought into a clinic in State College with laminitis so bad that it was there to be put down. One of the vets we work with asked to try Gladiator's ceramics first. The Bell Boots didn't exist yet, so the ceramics were glued straight onto the hoof at the coronary band.

These are that horse's venograms. A venogram uses dye to show the blood vessels inside the hoof, and the first was taken before the ceramics went on. In the later two you can also pick out the ceramics, carried down the hoof as new hoof grew in above them.

Today the horse is back to giving lessons.

  • Venogram of the hoof before the ceramics went onBeforeTaken before the ceramics went on
  • Venogram of the same hoof 30 days later30 daysThe ceramics are about halfway down the hoof
  • Venogram of the same hoof 120 days later120 daysThe ceramics have almost reached the ground

This is one horse's story, and every horse is different. If your horse is having trouble with its feet, your vet and farrier should be the ones making the plan.

FAQ

Bell Boot questions

View all FAQs
Which size does my horse need?

Small for 14 to 15 hands, Medium for 15 to 16, Large for 17 and up. Between 16.1 and 16.3, measure around the narrowest part of the pastern, just above the hoof, and pick the closest size: 7.25, 9.25 or 11.25 in. Still unsure? Call us at +1-610-215-2004.

Pair, set of 4, or one boot?

Each boot is sold as a left or a right. A pair covers the front or the hind feet, and a set of 4 covers all four. Pick one boot if you only need one side.

Front or hind?

Either. They go on the front or the hind feet.

How long can they stay on?

As long as you like. Riders put them on after the work and leave them on overnight in the stall.

Can I use them at shows?

Yes, in the barn. Put them on after your round and leave them on overnight in the stall. They're made for rest, not the ring, so check your rulebook before competing in them.

What if they're not for my horse?

PTR Bell Boots come with our 30-day money-back guarantee. Call us at +1-610-215-2004 to start a return. Shipping costs aren't refundable.
