Shop by what your horse needs
Most horses settle in 5 to 10 minutes.
Ears soften. The head comes down. Your horse is still bright, just not reacting to every golf cart and loudspeaker.
How an ear plug calms more than the noise
Roll one into each ear while you tack up.
The ceramic inside turns your horse's own body heat into far infrared, aimed at the brain and neck, and helps switch the body out of fight-or-flight and into rest-and-digest. Most of it lands right there at the ear, so the head settles first. What travels on through the body softens the rest of the horse a little, but the plugs are for the ride, not the recovery.
Get on a horse that's listening to you: settled, but still forward.

What the pros put in

They're just more relaxed, so less time on the lunge line and just an easier day to day getting them to the ring.
Scott Stewart

Once we tried them once, we never looked back.
Amanda Steege

I noticed some very good results as soon as I started using it!
Kyle King

With young horses, we find that we get to apply and help them relax, take on new lessons.

How are Gladiator Plughz different from regular ear plugs?
A regular ear plug is foam, and foam only reduces volume. Plughz Powered by Gladiator carry Gladiator's ceramic inside the foam, so your horse's own body heat also works to ease them out of fight-or-flight. The crowd and the loudspeaker stop getting a reaction.
Will it make my horse dull?
No. Calming paste works by dulling the horse. The ceramic works the other way: it helps your horse's body out of fight-or-flight, so you get a horse that's settled but still bright and forward. If yours gets quieter than you'd like, put them in a little closer to your ride.
Can I use them at shows?
Jumpers can use both. Hunters and equitation can use Gladiator Plughz in competition. In dressage, ear plugs are only allowed at prize-giving ceremonies, not in the warm-up or the test. From December 1, 2026, eventers can use ear plugs in all phases, including the dressage test. Always check your current rulebook.
How can I tell it's working?
Within minutes of putting Gladiator Plughz in, most riders see the ears soften, the head drop, some licking and chewing, and a deeper breath. Reign Ease usually shows within 30 minutes. With the recovery gear, the change shows over days: a horse that walks out of the stall looser and more comfortable.
Which Gladiator Plughz size does my horse need?
Most horses wear Large. Ponies take Small/Medium; warmbloods and bigger heads take X-Large. See the size guide.
Do the ceramics ever wear out?
No. You could bury one on the beach, dig it up 20 years later, and it would still be working. That means the ceramic can outlast the gear it comes in, and people find other ways to put it to work. Riders use them on themselves, too.
